The Systems Futures Practice Network is a global ecosystem convened by RIAHSAH Co. connecting researchers, practitioners, and organisations working to address complex challenges.
The Network serves as the practitioner ecosystem through which participants engage with, learn from, and contribute to systems change practice.
Explorers follow the work of the Network and engage with selected public activities.
As an Explorer, you have access to public articles and insights, invitations to selected open Systems Futures Labs, occasional public learning events, and updates from the Network.
Participation as an Explorer is open and free.
As a Collaborator, you gain full access to the Network’s core activities, including Systems Futures Labs, Applied Studios, and Community Research initiatives.
Membership is through a monthly subscription, which helps you access all activities while also supporting the coordination and growth of the Network.
Membership also includes access to premium digital resources, opportunities to contribute to Community Research, exposure to emerging ideas and methods, and connection with a growing network of practitioners applying Systems Informed Foresight® across sectors.
Associates are experienced practitioners and Collaborators who actively contribute to the Systems Futures ecosystem and collaborate with RIAHSAH on selected initiatives.
As an Associate, you engage in co-facilitating Systems Futures Labs, contributing to research work, supporting Applied Studios as a resource practitioner, and participating in selected RIAHSAH projects.
Membership is available through an annual subscription, providing full access to these activities while supporting the continued coordination and growth of the Network.
The Practice Network is organised around four activity areas that allow members to engage through real work and collaboration.
Systems Futures Labs are collaborative learning sessions where participants examine a real issue or emerging signal within a complex system.
Labs explore questions such as:
what structural signals are reshaping a sector or value chain
what emerging shifts may affect governance, markets, or civil society ecosystems
what risks or opportunities may shape future system dynamics.
Some Labs are open to the wider network, while deeper sessions are reserved for Members.
Applied Studios are structured learning environments where practitioners analyse real initiatives, programmes, or policy challenges.
Participants work through cases drawn from development practice, governance, markets, or social change initiatives to examine the deeper dynamics shaping results.
Studios generate:
case studies
policy narratives
practitioner learning resources
research outputs.
Studios are limited to Members, invited practitioners, and partner organisations.
Community Research initiatives invite Members to contribute to short analytical outputs examining emerging signals across systems.
These collaborations allow practitioners to share observations and analysis that strengthen RIAHSAH’s research and Systems Informed Foresight® work.
Topics may include:
structural signals shaping African markets
shifts within governance or civil society ecosystems
emerging dynamics affecting policy and institutional environments.
Outputs may include market intelligence briefs, publications, foresight and systems insight notes, and practitioner reflections.
The Opportunity Exchange creates professional and economic value for Members by sharing paid opportunities related to systems practice.
Opportunities may include:
consulting assignments
facilitation roles
research collaborations
advisory engagements
project partnerships.
Access to the Opportunity Exchange is restricted to Members.
The Systems Futures Practice Network is designed for people working in and across complexity, including:
researchers and analysts
systems practitioners and facilitators
programme designers and implementers
policy practitioners
social innovators and organisational leaders
anyone interested in learning and experimenting together to shape a better future for all
